PAIMAN Alumni Trust is a nationally registered, women-led, non-governmental and not-for-profit organisation established in 2004 under the Trust Act of 1882 in Islamabad, Pakistan. For over two decades, PAIMAN has been at the forefront of advancing inclusive peace, democratic governance, and resilient communities, with a distinctive focus on women and youth as agents of transformation.
PAIMAN is recognised as one of the pioneering organisations in Pakistan to systematically integrate women’s economic empowerment and climate preservation into peacebuilding and preventing violent extremism (PVE) frameworks. Grounded in the understanding that economic exclusion, environmental stress, and social injustice fuel conflict, PAIMAN embeds livelihood development, climate resilience, and community stewardship across all its peace, governance, and social cohesion initiatives.
Working nationwide, PAIMAN’s thematic areas include governance and democracy; gender and development; women, peace and security; conflict transformation; inclusive peacebuilding; interfaith and intrafaith dialogue; climate justice and environmental preservation; livelihoods; health; education; and emergency response and recovery. Its interfaith and intrafaith engagement with religious leaders, women, and youth has been instrumental in countering polarisation, strengthening social trust, and mobilising faith-based narratives for peace and non-violence.
Internationally, PAIMAN is widely acknowledged for its innovative, community-led models in inclusive peace education, disengagement and reintegration of individuals affected by violent extremism, and grassroots social cohesion. These models have been adapted with PAIMAN’s technical support in Iraq, Nigeria, and Somalia, and the organisation has received international recognition and awards for its transformative work in conflict-affected settings.
Since 2004, PAIMAN has implemented over 95 projects with a cumulative value of USD 38.5 million, partnering with communities, governments, and global institutions to deliver sustainable, locally rooted impact that links peace, equity, and climate resilience.
